What is it?

You may have noticed a frequent and ominous message in-game; ‘War is coming…’ What does this mean? Well, you may have heard of a small gaming genre called Battle Royale. Popular games within this category are Fortnite, Warzone, and PUBG.

Well now… Battle Royale is coming to you, right on our server!

The basis of the game is that you are dropped in via a ship flying above the map. Once dropped, players must land and find loot to gear up with. Throughout the map, there will be chests and shulkers containing different tiers of loot. You open these and the loot is yours. These range from basic, stone tools, all the way up to legendary, netherite loot. Your aim? Simple. Be the last one standing.

Read on to find out more, or head to the TL;DR section for a quick round-up.

What are the rules?

Your game will begin aboard the dropship. You will hear 3 dings, with the final of which being the start of the game. The doors to the ship will drop and players will elytra glide down into the arena (elytra are provided and applied before dropping). Once you have landed, it is every player for themselves. You must rush to find gear to apply. Keep XP will be on but keep inventory will not. So, can’t find gear? Kill another player and take theirs! The fight arena is a 301×301 area that is split into 4 zones (these will be indicated via beacons and a boss bar in your GUI will indicate time remaining). These zones will be reduced after a set amount of time, forcing players towards the center of the map for the final showdown.

Open Zone – this is where all players can roam, gather gear and move about the map freely.

Yellow Zone – After 10 minutes of Open Zone, players will have to move into the Yellow Zone or face elimination.

Orange Zone – After 5 minutes of Yellow Zone, players will need to move into the Orange Zone or face elimination.

Red Zone – After 5 minutes of Orange Zone, players will need to move into the Red Zone or face elimination.

Purple Zone – After 5 minutes of Red Zone, players will need to move into the final zone, Purple Zone. Players will remain within the Purple Zone until a winner emerges.

The main rules to consider are as follows;

  • Do NOT leave the arena at any point (this is marked with a fence around the play area).
  • The last player standing wins.
  • To begin the game, you must have nothing but an elytra to glide down with.

The above rules and zone timings mean that a single round of War can last anywhere from a few minutes (very compacted player landings) up to 30-35 minutes with all zone timings being fully utilised.

There will also be a scoring system based on your ranked position for each game (yet to be finalised but an example would be 10 points for 1st place, 9 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd and so on down to 1 point for 10th place). These scores will be monitored across a set series (potentially 1 week running for official matches) and those with the most points at the end of the series will receive a prize!

How Do I Get Involved?

Beacoland War Events will begin with the first-ever match on Monday 31st May at 7 pm BST! Follow the in-game and Discord updates for more information regarding locations closer to the event. The first event will be followed by a weeklong ‘event series’ with a range of dates and times within which everyone can get involved! You don’t need to bring anything but yourself. All elytra will be provided, and gear is collected along the way! A full map of the arena will be released in the coming days in order for you to scout, plan and select your drop zone!

TL;DR

The ‘War is coming…’ announcements in chat are related to a Beacoland Warzone-style game that will be run as multiple events, starting Monday, May 31st. No gear is needed as all will be provided. The game will be run in a Battle Royale style format, with the last player standing declared the winner of the game.
