Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update: What to expect next season!

This article will talk about the new Minecraft update which is set to be released on June 7th. We’ll also go over what it means for us, what’s new, and what you can expect!

What’s new in the 1.19 update?

Minecraft 1.19, The Wild Update will bring us new blocks, new mobs, a new biome and more! Read about that here

What does the update mean for Beacoland?

Like most servers, we don’t use Minecraft’s default server jar, instead, we opt for a more optimised and secure Bukkit fork. This means that once The Wild Update comes out, we will need to wait for Bukkit to update, then Spigot, then Paper, and so on. We will also have to wait for our plugins to update. But, with that being said and based on our experience over the last 3 seasons, we’ve decided to launch both Senior and Junior Beacoland on Saturday 9th July!

Disclaimer: We will do everything in our power to commit to the above date, but, if the most recent server version at the time is beyond playable, and/or there is no 1.19 version of some plugins like CoreProtect, we may have to postpone the launch date. Postponing would be the last option. We have a responsibility to keep you and your information safe and we always want to offer the best experience possible.

What’s new?

In our opinion, we have a very solid server foundation and we don’t want to go too over the top when it comes to features. At the moment, we have a few extra server optimisations and quality of life additions and instead of adding more, we think it’s best to perfect what we have. Below is what you can expect to be different and improved:

Survival:

  • The Wild Update!
  • Beacoland Map(s)!

Creative:

  • New flat world with player plots
To protect your builds and keep them private. Also better customizability of the area you work with (different biome types etc)

The creative server will reset on Friday 17th June but, you will have access to both the new and old creative servers for roughly 2 weeks to make copies of your builds and move them over if you wish.

Other:

  • New Hub Design
  • Improved Discord x Minecraft Integration
  • Bug Fixes

Upcoming Build Competitions:

We also want to give you the opportunity to contribute to the server and truly make it your own so, just like the current season, we will be hosting a Nether Hub Building Competition and also adding a new Spawn Town Hall Competition! This means you, the community, will have the chance to create the main building in spawn (and others later down the line). The Spawn Town Hall Competition will be based on a theme that the community votes on. The 3 options, we’ve narrowed down to, will be released via a Discord announcement shortly after the release of this article. So, get ready to vote!

Anarchy Days:

You didn’t think we’d forget about Anarchy Day, did you? Both Senior and Junior will lockdown on Friday 1st July, this will also be the last day of the seasons. Once locked down, we will back up the server and take copies to supply as world downloads.

Anarchy Day will take place on the following dates:

  • Junior: Saturday 2nd July
  • Senior: Sunday 3rd July

Both servers will stay online for a minimum of 24 hours so you can join at any point to blow up your base!

Timeline Summary:

  • Creative Reset: Friday 17th June
  • Seasons End: Friday 1st July
  • Junior Anarchy Day: Saturday 2nd July
  • Senior Anarchy Day: Sunday 3rd July
  • Junior Season 3 Launch: Saturday 9th July at 5pm BST
  • Senior Season 4 Launch: Saturday 9th July at 7pm BST

Don’t forget, you still have around a month of playtime left on the current seasons so take it all in, and look back at what you and others created. This season has been truly special and one we definitely won’t forget. We hope you enjoyed playing and we look forward to many more seasons to come. Thank you all for your continuous support, it means the world.
