Easy Ways To Reduce Lag (listed by importance):

 

Villagers – Breeders and halls must be 6+ chunks away from your base and 6+ chunks away from each other. 50 villagers max per hall and 3 villagers max for your breeder. Villagers in halls must be in a 1×1 cell. Reducing the number of villagers actively being loaded on the server is currently one of the most important means of reducing lag. Building your villager trading hall in unloaded chunks and only going there when you need to trade will help increase the TPS drastically.

 

Avoid unnecessary or large amounts of mobs in render distance – Lots of mob AI puts a tremendous strain on the server, with villagers being the biggest culprit. We recommend avoiding more than 100 passive mobs inside your render distance.

 

Separate large laggier farms – When building farms, do not stack multiple large farms. Having a big farm and a couple of small farms nearby is fine. But having multiple big laggy farms all within render distance of your AFK spot causes a lot of lag with no way to get rid of it. If you have questions about laggy farms, message one of the staff team.

 

Design mob farms to kill mobs – When mob farms/grinders do not kill the mobs they are spawning, the mobs are often grouped together by design and cause significant lag. Mob farms must automatically kill mobs but can have a toggle to kill them manually when the farm is actively being used. If they do not automatically kill mobs, make sure they can be turned off.

 

Avoid entity cramming – The most common cause of this is someone having a cow/pig/etc. pen with not enough space for the animals as well as too many entities in general. This results in entity collisions, which can cause significant amounts of lag for the server. (more than 25 mobs in 1 chunk is a no-no)

 

Spread entities out over as many chunks as possible – entities increase the time needed to process chunks spreading out entities into as many chunks as possible reduces the time taken to process them. To see where each chunk is press f3 + g while in-game. As said in #5, it can be especially laggy when the entities are bumping into each other.

 

Completely light up Redstone builds – A big portion of lag from Redstone builds can be attributed to light levels updating when Redstone is powered. Light up the area to decrease the number of light updates.

 

Confine Redstone builds to as few chunks as possible – As Redstone updates move from chunk to chunk, they cause each chunk to update. Reducing the number of chunks a Redstone build is in decreases the number of chunk updates.

 

Design Redstone builds/farms that shut off – Can be a lever or use a hopper to detect if items are present if aiming for a more automatic farm.

 

Hoppers – The fewer hoppers the better, if you have 3 hoppers on top of each other, why not try replacing the middle hopper with a chest? This can help to reduce lag and save you some iron! Need help making Redstone efficient? Contact Beaco

 

For minecarts:
– Don’t store mobs in minecarts! Only use them for transportation.
– Have as few minecarts as possible in farm collection systems. You may not always need 1 minecart per line, maybe you could try 1 hopper per 2 lines? Also, save the iron!

 

Generally minimize the use of block entities: (item frames, signs, etc., even beds).
– Use ladders to hold back water/lava, they are less laggy, easier to place, and cheaper than signs. (To reduce FPS lag in your area)

 

NOT ALLOWED:

  • Mob farms that do not kill mobs automatically or alternatively do not have a turn off function
  • Chunk loaders
  • Lag machines (obviously)
